The CDC and partners “implemented air monitoring for pathogen surveillance in congregate areas at four U.S. international airports. From October 2023 to August 2024, SARS-CoV-2 was detected by PCR in 98.3% of air samples.”

We desperately need indoor air cleaning measures. Til then: 😷
VERY important paper!
This study detected SARS-CoV-2 in the air of common areas of 4 big US airports. SARS-CoV-2 detected in 98% of samples through the year. Influenza A was found during flu season.
That’s why you want to wear an N95 respirator in an airport! And all indoor public spaces all year!

New — I wrote about this weird thing where people within the Republican party keep being exposed as Nazis and the party then tries to claim each one is an aberration. The facts, as I lay out here, indicate otherwise:
Republicans don’t have a Nazi problem—they are the Nazi problem
A spate of recent revelations have shown the ideologies and their adherents are one and the same.

The fact that Musk himself is sponsoring so many of the anti-trans ads this cycle presents a pretty golden opportunity for Dems to point out that of course the guy who literally wants to build a gas-powered data center in your backyard wants this election to be about trans people.

Trans rights is inherently a bodily autonomy issue. Just like abortion rights is. We can't have gender equity or reproductive freedom without trans rights. Full stop.

You can yell at me and make up shit that you claim I've said if it makes you feel better. I don't care. I'm right. And you know it.

I don’t even listen to Ed Sheeran a lot and wasn’t really paying attention to his tour before … but now I’m looking up all of his (former) support bands who have since dropped out of his tour and THEY all have a new fan. Free Palestine. 🇵🇸

Listening to KEXP on my lunch break. DJ Larry Mizell Jr. is playing a set of antifascist and pro-Palestine music. Good for the soul, you can stream it on their website: www.kexp.org. It's rare to find a big org like this who are willing to speak out so much respect to Larry and the team.

Susan Sontag's 9/16/01 piece in The New Yorker got her crucified but it's one of the few things from that era that aged well. "'Our country is strong,' we are told again and again. I for one don’t find this entirely consoling. Who doubts that America is strong? But that’s not all America has to be."

9/11/2001 I was a freshman in high school in Alabama, I wore a hijab. In gym class my teacher wheeled in a screen. Something horrible was happening. I watched, mouth agape as the second tower hit.

We were silent.

As that period reached an end, my name was announced on the loud speaker. 1/

WHOA DHS does not say that the agent feared for his life… just the vague concern for “public safety.” So he killed him just because he did not want him in America, not because of any specific threat to agents?
