Agreed. One of things I’m looking at is using it for classification when we don’t have the training data necessary to fine-tune a model.
I think Jev is a huge missing piece: we can now build intelligent agents out of fast cheap reflexes and slow expensive chain-of-thought cognition, instead of running everything on LLMs.
Jev may have its (narrow) use cases but the hype you see around is the perfect representation of the fact the greatest part of the AI bubble don't know what is important and what is not. Jev is a minor thing happening on AI compared to all the rest, yet the hype exploded.

I’m happy to be back on the east coast, but I really hate the supermarkets here. It’s easy to get spoiled by HEB I guess, but the produce and meat sections here are so disgusting.

I recently started using Claude for the first time, and maybe it’s an Opus thing, but I vastly prefer ChatGPT. The Claude models are really bad about explaining code or walking through issues.

Twenty years later, Michael Mann still isn’t finished with “Miami Vice.”
Beyond Fest has announced the world premiere of “Miami Vice: Director’s Final Cut,” a newly recut and restored 4K version of Mann’s divisive-turned-cult-classic 2006 crime thriller. Mann will attend the 20th-anniversary screening at Directors Village in Los Angeles, although the festival has not yet revealed the new cut’s runtime or exactly what the filmmaker has changed.

I watched Hedda last night. Having a hard time thinking of a better play adaptation in recent years. Nia DaCosta’s best movie by a mile. I found the directing in The Bone Temple a bit pedestrian, at least compared to Boyle’s masterful precursor, but this is a huge leap forward.

I was watching the Alan Pakula documentary the other day and it struck me that Hollywood doesn’t really do conspiracy thrillers these days. Instead, horror has supplanted it as the cultural output of our collective anxiety.

Definitely agree. For a reason project that was growing a bit too complicated, I had agents build and maintain living documents for pipeline overview, bug tracking, and change tracking. Made a huge difference for me.
I suspect once we figure it out agentic work in software will actually be a huge aid to codebase comprehension
