"What you hold onto is less important than the act of holding on itself. It's so easy to get lost in ourselves and this world. Sometimes you need to find your way back one tiny miracle at a time."

I slept on it, decided I'm not really happy with the color palette I originally chose and opted for Far Cry 5/Twilight-inspired scenery instead. Also added a little bonus.

Did you know if you see something beautiful it's not because it's beautiful but because you've set aside space within yourself for recognizing beautiful things. That's pretty dang hopeful.

End of the year be merciful to me:
two people I thought could be done with me aren't and a reader I thought I lost is still with me. (In worst case scenarios.) Being mopey for a long time was unnecessary ✌️

Chocodile 🍫🐊 #art
An illustration of a chocodile, or chocolate crocodile, based on Finnish coffee brownies. It is smiling sweetly with a cocktail cherry on its nose, its brown, wide body covered in a layer of chocolate with colourful sprinkles. The ridges on the back are made of dark chocolate. What a delicious, crumbly treat!

i know WHY this is but that just makes it even more of a kick in the pants lmao
screenshot of a tumblr post from user “wildmansters” The thing that really boils my potatoes about Al in general is that I have been a creative professional for over a decade now and the devil has ALWAYS been in the details. Big and small, I've had single-person businesses rip me to shreds over how their colors turned out on newsprint, and have worked with huge companies with THICK brand guidelines with every detail of their brand identity laid out and enforced with an iron fist. But I guess all of that stuff doesn't matter anymore? Who gives a fuck if this Al generated baby has six fingers, that mom-and-pop shop is still going to use it. That rug from Temu says Happy Thanksgivirg? Oh well haha it's just a silly funny thing now (nevermind that you never would have given a B-grade item from a craft show the same consideration). I don't actually care that the Al Coca-cola ad has a truck that changes size every scene, but I can't help but think about how, if it had been some poor underpaid artist, they would have been laughed out of the building. I don't really know how to put it in a succint way but it just feels all the more obvious how much more grace and flexibility has always been possible but never offered.

Strawberry sharkcake 🍰🦈 #art
An illustration of two thresher sharks stylised to look like they are made of strawberry shortcake. Their long tails turn into whipped cream, and their dorsal fins are strawberry halves. The top of their bodies is also a creamy white, while their underbellies are a soft brown. Strawberries float around them, one of them in the left shark’s mouth. Under them, and against a faded pink background, the text “STRAWBERRY SHARKCAKE” can be read. Perhaps the look of anxiety on their faces is because they fear not being able to eat enough cake before it goes bad?

Remember your favorite creator possibly might be struggling with imposter syndrome and doubt and this timeline sucks.. so if you find yourself thinking “wow I really relate to this persons work” or that persons work gives you joy, you should probably tell them. It’s a hard time to be a creative.
