Something about this lawn must have smelled really good; we had to stop and roll around in it. #dogs #dogsofbluesky

OK, somehow I'd been to Amsterdam multiple times and never gone to visit the windmills. Finally fixed that today.

Just read that the Reikado hall on Mt. Misen (Miyajima) burned down... it was a beautiful building, and I am sad to hear of its loss.

I don't know if you can say we've reached "peak bloom" in Boston when there are so many different kinds of cherry trees here, but this has got to be close? #flowers

#flowers and #dogs for the weekend. Things are really starting to pop off in my area. Trying to arrange cherry blossom viewing during the upcoming week...

I only just learned today that a 64-bit integer in C++ is officially a "long long," and I hope that brightens up your day a bit as it did mine.

From around the Arnold Arboretum today... including the first cherry blossoms of the season!

Spring is thinking about it in the Arnold Arboretum. Not 100% there, but the early birds are showing up.

Reading @adapalmer.bsky.social 's "Inventing the Renaissance" chapter on Josquin des Prez led me down a rabbit hole; turns out I already knew him, as a variation on his Ave Maria showed up in "The Talos Principle":

Back home in the states with Layton, and he's turned the puppy dog eyes on me full blast.

A peaceful morning at Tofukuji in Kyoto. I'll have to return when the maple leaves are in proper season, but it was well worth the visit all the same.

Black bean tea in The Perch at Negiya Ryofukaku, which felt like falling through a time warp to the 70s... I think; I was not alive for them the first time around.

Man, the food here is just too good. Would be paying 4x the price for something that gets even close to this quality back home.

It wouldn't be a trip to Japan without some cherry blossoms - even in winter you can find some fuyuzakura blossoming. (These were in Ueno park, along with the last of the red maple leaves.)

I realized I described myself as a reader in my profile, yet I've not talked at all about what I actually read.

I've been in a book club with my good friends since 2020. We alternate fiction and non-fiction, and usually try for something spooky in October. This year's spook is House of Leaves.
