AudioCortex 2 Nova, 2.5 Beta 16 is out. The editor has trim and fade handles you drag by hand, and nothing changes in the file until you Save. Tracks zooms and drags smoothly.

AudioCortex 2 Nova, 2.5 Beta 11: record straight onto a track. Arm a lane, press Record and play along; punch in over part of a lane, with a metronome and count-in. Drag audio onto a lane and it lands right under the mouse.

AudioCortex 2 Nova, 2.5 Beta 10: knobs you can grab. Ask Oscilla for knobs and big labelled ones appear, wired to your patch, synth or drums. Turn them while it plays, flip A/B, save snapshots. Also: jazz chord names, a drum Bounce menu, and the whole help as a PDF.

AudioCortex 2 Nova 2.5 Beta 5 is out, with the Hive: one look for the whole app. Frost cyan for sound, nova amber for motion, hexagons everywhere, and four colour schemes. Nothing a room does has changed.

Free 7-day trial: icedaudio.com
The AudioCortex 2 Library in the Hive look: a folder of pads, every sound analysed with what it sounds like, tempo, key and level, and a cyan waveform below. The Arranger playing a Synthwave song in C sharp dorian: a timeline of sections, and lanes for bass, pad, keys, lead and drums lighting as they play. The Drum Machine: a grid of hexagon steps playing a four-on-the-floor kit, an amber hexagon play button, cyan knobs, and a hexagon keyboard for the synth. The Nodes canvas: a sound wired through XXL Stretch, Veil, a low pass moved by an oscillator, and a reverb to the output, on a faint hexagon grid.

People emailed me for 4 years, asking me if I gave up the ghost. No became the ghost in the machine. Just because I was off the map for 4 years, doesn't mean I wasn't building the whole time. I need to disconnect. And now am gong to have a lot to say.
