1970s Progressive music lover learning to appreciate NeoProg and even the occasional Prog Metal. Foodie as in I love to cook and eat! I have my dislikes, but this GRITS tries not to be snobbish. I enjoy a Costco hot dog as much as a whole Maine lobster.

I’m covering all of my bases to let you know about this…

I don’t know if any of the locations are feasible for you, but I truly hope you can go!

It’s arrived!
With thanks to the author, Peter Orullian, for the personalization.
It’s a good sized book, being based on a Christmas concept album, also called The Bell Ringer, by Symphony North. 384 pages.

My first attempt at braiding garlic. This is month long cured hardneck garlic from my raised beds. Not the prettiest, but it’s my first time and I understand braiding hardneck garlic is more difficult.

This is better than Charlie Daniel’s actual sequel

Well, for some reason (none stated), I am in Facebook jail. We’ll see if I get my account back, and how long it takes if I do.

At the end of tomato season, I hang the cut vines upside down in the solarium to encourage any remaining unripe tomatoes to ripen. It works pretty well.

When I heard I needed to cure the garlic for about a month by hanging it, I figured perhaps a similar method will work.

I was going to wait until next Sunday, the 13th, to harvest my garlic in my raised bed at Marymoor Community Gardener's Association, but it looks like we’ll get some rain this week. We’ve been dry for awhile, so I went ahead and did it today.

Gut Shabbos!

In the tradition of making challah in the shape of a key for the first Shabbos after Pesach, I attempted my first Schlissel Challah.

The shaft of the key is a 5-strand braid. The teeth and handle of the key are three 3-strand braids I rolled up into rosettes.

I’m trying something new in my raised beds this year. I was gifted a two year old artichoke transplant by one of the former food bank garden coordinators at Marymoor Community Garden in appreciation of my help last year with watering some of the food bank beds.

We have germination!

I just got this set up yesterday, and even as compact as it is, it’s precariously balanced where I had room for it. Hopefully I can find a board the perfect width and length to give it stability.
