I was exploring a small island that I had been to a few times, a few years ago. Now the north part is a construction zone. I was going along the border and veered off on a small path that led to this bizarre sculpture garden of detritus. Glad it was morning - serious Blair Witch vibes.

Something new at the Guangzhou south train station: live bathroom stall status. Currently, all men's stalls are occupied by men smoking and looking at their phones. Each will take at least ten minutes and most likely leave butts and butt expulsions for you.

Sunrise in Guangzhou from the Haiyin bridge. A few days a year for this view but luckily it was a good one for probably the last time I'll see it. Worth leaving the house before 630am.

Got an email about the upcoming vol II of this epistolary album with Patti Smith. This one has two poems, Pasolini and Medea, perfect for walking or riding about in honour of Nanni Moretti's Pasolini pilgrimage in Caro Diario.

Anticipating my return to Canada, I was watching Shoresy, which features music by Canadian artists. One episode had Dark Days by Art d'Ecco. Last Bandcamp Friday, I got the album and open to close I think of the nights I spent dancing with friends. Fabulous.

Couldn't wait for Bandcamp Friday. Needed something good today. Pretty sure my friend Sam had a crush on David Sylvian back in his New Romantic Japan Days and i liked his hair. Now I have a crush on his voice.

I need to see this in a cinema before I die. I can die happily afterwards, dreaming of Matthieu Almaric in molten celluloid.

As a morning person - worsening with age - and lover of morning screenings, I propose dawn to dusk screenings. I'd say 7am to noonish, and, borrowing the sensible arrangement here in China (and also in Taiwan), build in a one-hour nap period, then resume 1:30pm and go to 9 - 10 ish.

Thanks to the Mike Munn interview on The Editor's Cut podcast, I searched for Peter Mettler's Picture of Light. A YouTube link led me to Vimeo and the option to stream or buy it, and preferring owning, I bought it.
