Dishwasher broke. Me and the kids did the dishes by hand. I showed them how.

My 9 year old: ... is this how people did it back in your day?

Please send help.

Plumes performing "Patience," by Guns N' Roses. I'd never even heard of a Binturong before. What it did halfway through was amazing. 🥹

On this Fourth of July Eve, as I plan on going tomorrow to a town over to see a parade, I wonder if my little community will be able to pull off its own Independence Day parade someday.

The community has been generous and I love being able to give a little merch to say thank you.

The publication is tiny compared to most news outlets, but having someone cheering on and watching out for our community through reporting has meant a lot!
We had some special vinyl stickers made for people who have donated to the Aloha Free Press. And we made sure to have some extra!

These awesome stickers are available now while supplies last.

For unincorporated Washington County territories like Aloha, Board Chair is pretty much the highest position in our local governance.
The three candidates running for Washington County Board of Commissioners Chair took time this week to speak with us ahead of the public forum on April 24.

Today, April 17, is the last day for community members to submit a question for candidates at the forum.

Very excited about this event. Seeing people in the community just up and doing a cool idea just 'cause they wanted to is a beautiful thing.... and in this case.... delicious.
We have a freshly-baked story out of the AFP 'kitchen.' Find out all about an event on April 11 that starts in Aloha and offers a chance for a top raffle prize of over $150 worth of homemade goodies from skilled home bakers.

I'm far away from MN - but I watch from afar and try to learn.
My county has had the highest number of ICE detentions in Oregon. ICE has taken community members in my town - smashed their car windows, cursed at bystanders, carried the same weapons they're using in MN.

This is a good read.

People want locally produced community news.

AFP's been growing thanks to people hoping on board - both in spreading the word and the occasional coin.
This publication is 100% volunteer-run and supported by the community in many ways!

Your support helps power this publication. It really has made a difference.

Just when I thought I had the facts untangled while researching for this article, MORE knots came up. It went from fun little light-hearted trivia to putting me in full on investigative journalist mode. Enjoy the ride!
This was a doozy of an article to produce. Every time the article got close to finished - another twist arrived. Please enjoy this time-honored rite of passage for all Aloha journalists and historians: trying to separate fact and fiction about how Aloha got its name.
