From warring parties targeting journalists in Yemen to a Hong Kong Court’s conviction of former publisher Jimmy Lai, there are steep efforts to curtail free speech worldwide. This is precisely why we must speak out.

It's astounding how fast "AI" has broken down the basic concept of licensing or even just plain asking permission from an artist.

It's intrinsically the behavior of an utter asshole, and it contributes to the overall public rejection of everything associated with the technology.

Dear god. Very, very serious allegations of mass civil rights violations at the State of Florida's Everglades immigration detention center (officially known as "Alligator Alcatraz").

It isn't obscure in library circles, and it should be obvious, but it does seem to confuse a lot of people when I note that a bad economy always sees a spike in virtually every library use statistic.
This makes me wonder: what is the strangest recession indicator that you are sure of?

The most obscure thing that you're *sure* is a recession indicator, something which you don't hear basically anyone else mention?

Recession indicator: FromScratchBaker's been making lots of Great Depression style bakes with limited ingredients.

This one has no butter, milk, or eggs.

I think it’s awful that the Islamic Republic killed countless Iranians, I think it’s awful that the US and Israel are adding to the body count. I truly hope Iranians get freedom from violence sooner rather than later.

Tatiana Maslany calls out Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney for co-signing the US' & Israel's missile strikes on Iran:

People finally waking up to who Mark Carney is, take a seat. It’s nice to see you after 11 months of him saying one thing and doing the exact opposite.

Anthropic refused to let the Pentagon use AI for mass surveillance and murderbots

The company that said no got punished. The company that said yes(OpenAI) got rewarded. That's the incentive structure for AI safety in 2026.

Confirmation that LUCAS drones were used against targets in Iran.

People have got to quit trying to downplay how much these cheap, disposable drones have fundamentally altered the way wars are fought.

It’s a big deal everywhere, not just in “permissive” environments.

I was literally pulling up the FBI indictments of the Iranian hackers two days ago for a forthcoming article ab this 🫠

Trump dismantled the entire infrastructure that disrupted this op! Kate and Stamos and I were sued by America First Legal — case is entering its 3rd year. These fucking hacks.
OFFS. When Iran tried to interefere in 2020, researchers caught them and called them out. Then the Benz-Weiss-Taibbi-Musk-Jordan-Trump axis labeled those researchers "censors" ... and set about defunding them and dismantling their organizations.
I am going to need every single person who said that misinformation was a moral panic to feel enough shame and regret that they leave public intellectual life.
