When the first apple tree looked skyward and wished for its own star to cherish, the orchard fairy promised one if it worked hard. The tree toiled all year, and in #autumn was rewarded with stars at the heart of its fruit, to cradle the seeds of future trees. #FolkloreThursday

In the garden, flowers are taking on the colours of an autumn sunset: burnt orange, amber, gold and glowing red. Roses, dahlias, strawflowers, Helenium and Spanish flag seem to catch the warmth of the sinking sun, carrying a little summer fire into autumn. #FlowersOnFriday

“Through the hush one hears the tuneless drone of insects, lulling fears and hopes alike. A sense half understood, of something sweet that was and is no more, stirs in the heart.
‘Summer is gone,’ we say.”

Ancient Greek figurine of a barber cutting a man’s hair, 5th century BC.
Brings to mind the ‘chatty barber’ joke:
Q. How should I cut your hair Sir?
A. In silence!
😂😂😂
Coincidentally this joke can also be traced back to the 5th century BC!
