Say SPACE! 📸🚀 Astronaut Pikachu travelled to the International Space Station to join ESA Astronaut, Sophie Adenot, as part of a collaboration between ESA and The Pokémon Company International to celebrate the upcoming World Space Week from 4-10 Oct 2026!

Skilled navigators memorized hundreds of stars. The Hawaiian Star Compass, a mental compass, divided the sky into 8 star families and 32 houses, which they used as markers to chart a course from a starting point to a designated destination.

Deep-ocean voyaging, celestial navigation — the Polynesians were masters at it. Infamously known for wayfinding, Polynesian people voyaged across the vast blue Pacific Ocean basin using the sun, stars, waves, and nature around them.

These displays are caused by particles originating from the Sun. Solar storms release large clouds of electrically charged particles that travel millions of miles, sometimes reaching Earth.

Even lights can dance in the sky — or at least the Northern Lights do. This phenomenon is an invigorating display of colorful lights dancing across the dark skies. They can often be seen near the poles in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.

Dragon’s Blood Trees are an endemic plant species to Socotra Island, a picturesque island nestled off the coast of Yemen in the Arabian Sea. These fascinating trees can grow to more than 30 feet tall and can live for up to 600 years.

Meet Hoag’s Object, a ring galaxy full of mystery. Hoag’s Object is around 600 million light-years away in the constellation Serpens. The galaxy spans about 120,000 light-years wide making it slightly larger than our Milky Way Galaxy.

The phenomenon being depicted in the photos is attributed to material being disseminated by volcanoes — which leave behind rich minerals like olivine and pyroxene — both of which are found in the layer of rock sitting below the crust of Earth.

The European Space Agency’s Mars Express captured beautiful photos of Mars’s South Pole, which depicts an icy, craggy area, dressed in a gradient of purples, pinks, and reds. This area is known as Thyles Rupes — ‘Rupes’ being latin for cliff and ‘Thyles’ being Thule.

NGC 4698, a spiral galaxy around 55 million-light years away in the constellation Virgo may appear as a typical spiral galaxy akin to the Milky Way and other spiral galaxies — but that isn’t necessarily the case for NGC 4698.
