Hey #Tesco, as a carer I visit your cafe while my partner with dementia goes on the local mental health walk. It's good cappuccino while I do my carer admin. But for £4 I would think you could give me a good amount of chocolate. Stop being so exploitative. Every little helps? You behave like misers.

They're talking on BBC Radio 4 right now about young people who are not in employment, education or training, One of the suggestions is that social isolation, encouraged by social media, is affecting young people's social skills. Here's a blog I wrote eight years ago.

I don’t visit my friends any more. When I were a lad we used to have callers. We had a living room with the TV and the coal fire, it was somewhere to live and entertain. When people arrived, the TV would be turned off and the kettle would be turned on. Years ago, though, years before I was born, people used to keep a room for callers, the front parlour. It would be for special occasions, family events, funerals, high days and holidays and for when people would just turn up. Of course, visitors might be disappointed if their friends were out but at least they’d had a nice walk.

That was an episode of #TheArchers at it's best. That subtle comedy of people in power being undercut by those they usually dominate is something The Archers does so well and is extremely satisfying.

Today is mostly about being here for the electrician who is putting in the new fuse box and the feed to the shower. Between keeping him supplied with cups of tea and any interruptions in the power supply I'll be trying to fix the pixelation on the artwork for the new paperback of #UnspeakableEvil.

We had a party at the weekend. By the end of the day I'm hoping all the chairs will be back in their correct locations around the house.

This all seems out of character for Brad, the person who is sensitive and intelligent enough to understand the consequences of his actions, and would sacrifice his feelings for the greater good.
