Can’t put my hand on my heart and say I’m following all of The Artist’s Way, but I have found the morning pages habit remarkably easy to establish.

I write my poetry in coffee shops;
amongst steamy stanzas wreathed with cinnamon.
A chorus of freshly-ground beans chant
“Mocha, Latte, Americano, Macchiato,”
while sweet sestinas soar
high above the crowded cabaret of packed pannini
who jostle for recognition, crying
“Eat me! Eat me!”

This.
Many of us arrive at Christmas carrying disappointment, grief, unanswered prayers, or plans that didn’t unfold as we hoped. The Gospel tells us something essential: God enters the world through messy, unresolved situations. Emmanuel is born not into ideal circumstances, but into real life.

St Edmund the King and martyr commemorated last week. Smiled when the celebrant @csmv-wantage.bsky.social told us briskly of his beheading: “So- that was it!” 1/

Trump-proof the BBC

When I was at school in the 70s, we were still sniggering at “The curse is come upon me, cried the Lady of Shalott.”
A large part of writing for children is trying to work out what level of swearing is acceptable to publishers

Having a stroll through my poor neglected starter pack? A kind of directory I guess. Maybe think of it as a party bag with balloons, toys and a slice of cake. 😇

Down three points from 45 to 42. Time period July-September, so hopefully little damage was done during Greenbelt!
Currently pre-diabetic, adjusting diet & lifestyle on NHS prevention course. When said on booking for @greenbeltfestival.bsky.social that needed to have a fitness drive to cope, never imagined this scenario!

THE CHILD IN ME
When I was a child
I played
and in my playing
found a world where I belonged
Now I am grown
Help me find that belonging again, so that
Being finished with childish things
I do not lose the me that is really me

Just realised that in a few week’s time it’ll be ten years since I made the 30-Day Spiritual Exercises at St Beunos.

Exactly. No “yes, buts…”
You don’t actually have to both sides this. The Jewish community in the UK is not the Israeli government. You can just condemn the murder of two British Jews killed in their place of worship and you don’t have to say a single other thing.

I just sent this out.

The Jewish people have moral frameworks for this moment.

It is a choice not to heed them.

Please let us meet this moment, let us see the shattered Temple around us, right now, and our responsibility to it.
