No, she won more votes but no one got 50.1%. Now it goes to s runoff election in two weeks, with just the top two candidates. But 2/3 of voters didn't want her, so that's pretty big.

My theory, as a non-sports fan, with any type of playoff is that the league wants the most games to earn ad/ticket revenue, plain and simple. Players won't/can't throw a game, but refs can. I barely watch sports but noticed they always seem to end up playing the max number of games.

I agree with you there. And I think it will definitely start hurting us all more fairly soon.

And your idea? Protests started on February 5th, 2025. We didn't feel like we had a choice about it. We were compelled to do something, anything. They grew, & a national strike would too. The first one wasn't going to move the needle much, just popularize the idea.

It was a clear dummymander. That's why they initially wouldn't take it up.

One cool thing is that many SC GOP lawmakers asked for voter feedback on their social media. It was immediate and super negative. Pols actually pointed out pros and cons about the Trump maps and things they were worried about. We NEVER see that from them. Town halls are a think of the past here.

This is my state, and Republican Senators were worried about many things: 1) this was really looking like a dummymander with a 4-3 split possible; 2) some important cities/counties were split in two; 3) absentee voting had started; 4) cost to taxpayers = 2.5 million; 5) chaos in elections offices.

That is every campaign that I've participated in. It's so frustrating. Most of the time I was knocking doors of people every bit as committed as I was. Waste of time. To me, working freelance to help candidates is what works best. Talk to EVERYONE.

Exactly this. The micro-targeting of messages was unbelievable. It's the only way that every demographic across the country could shift to the right all together. The power of X and other platforms to feed folks like Latinos convincing stories from trusted influencers was really unbeatable.
