My name is Christina Cover. I am a 28-year-old UFT public school teacher in the Bronx. I serve on my local community board and am a proud member of NYC-DSA and NY Working Families Party. I am strongly considering a run for New York State Assembly in District 84. I have taught and served at multiple schools in the Bronx. I have seen the extraordinary resolve and brilliance of Bronx students and educators. Simultaneously, I experience the persistent struggles we face. Many students are reading below grade level, but this issue is not in isolation. Defunded programs in our communities have exacerbated violence, important literacy laws are not moving fast enough, and affordability, as we saw in the recent mayoral election, is an urgent concern for Bronx residents and all New Yorkers. As an Assembly Member, I will demand investment in public safety and take a proactive approach, champion laws that raise the bar for literacy in Bronx schools, and join the relentless fight for affordability.
