The Republican Party has done a TERRIFYINGLY good job of accomplishing this with basically no resistance. How can you criticize a speech that doesn't contain a single complete sentence? How can you criticize a policy encapsulated in a 16 bit video game?

The newspeak opposite of "good" isn't "bad", it's "crime" - and since the government can't be "crime", it must be good! The dumbing down is not incidental; it's crucial: no nuance, no lateral thinking, no shades of gray.

I've ranted about this before and I'll likely do it again, but the point of 1984's newspeak was not to have a neat futuristic lingo or even to criticize censorship generically. Newspeak was specifically about making anti-party language literally unthinkable.

He's on his actual deathbed and being used as a LITERAL prop to give the party a few more weeks of power. If the goddamn senate majority leader can't even get a dignified death, what is the party going to take from the rest of you when it suits them?

I would have concerns that party leadership's blatant disrespect toward a political giant reflected an even greater disrespect toward relatively unimportant laypersons such as myself.

Like if I was a conservative and the senate majority leader was having his medical crisis and probable death turned into a spectacle and a farce, I would consider that an ignoble end unbeffitting his decades of service.
