Getting Embodiment of Scarlet Devil officially released in English on Switch in 2026 is wild. I didn’t like the smooth HD look of the new version at first but it’s growing on me.
More importantly, I hope people buy it so we can get Perfect Cherry Blossom.

Didn't have time to write for Chainsmoker Cat but @jelx.bsky.social's writeup captures my feelings on it. It's upsettingly crass, but there's a bold frankness to the way it portrays addiction. We've seen a few mentally ill anime girls the last few years but none quite this realistically pitiable.
First Look: Chainsmoker Cat
Yani Neko is struggling to get through everyday life. To cope, she spends most of her days laying around her grimy apartment, chain smoking as many packs of cigarettes as she can afford.

In this episode we mention Dorohedoro is one of the rare anime that is so good it made me read the manga (I do not read manga). This is the full list:
- Binbougami ga
- Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun
- Hinamatsuri
- Dorohedoro
- Call of the Night season 2
See if you notice any patterns

Reading about Crimson Desert being the latest game to get caught leaving in “early-stage” AI generated assets and I’m just remembering this screenshot I took from Anthem. AI is so bad it has me fondly remembering ANTHEM, do you know how bad that is?

This is the shirt I was wearing while recording the top 10 anime podcast for @glorioblog.bsky.social. Apocalypse Hotel is really good!
This came in the mail today. I imagine this is the complimentary shirt Yachiyo gives you when an alien guest accidentally destroys your luggage and you have nothing else to wear.

I swear I've read about Gainax being officially dead at least once annually for the last 10 years, but in case this is truly finally it, I think back to the obituary I wrote for them in 2024. Truly, there was no studio like Gainax, and there never will be again.

I'm doing this the following weekend (same page and details) and I am wholly unprepared, woo!
Goodness me it's nearly the end of November, so it's time to do the Very Scary Scenario charity gaming streams once again! We're raising money for Mind this year, and a new cast of people playing games and talking for 24 hours or more depending on how much gets donated! More info vscary.co/charity

Anime of the year contender Apocalypse Hotel finished today and I felt compelled to recreate the Gingarou Hotel logo for a T-shirt. High res/illustrator file is here if anyone else wants it: jels.website/shirts
