my hot take of the day is that smart glasses that can be used to secretly record videos of people are terrifying and should never have been marketed to the public and the fact that we don't regard them as dystopian nightmare fuel makes me extremely nervous

Yes, immigration is a complex policy issue. Yes, managing rapid population growth—of any kind—poses big challenges for governments across Canada. But too often, talk about safety, jobs, or “distinct identity” functions as code for intolerance, built on claims that simply don’t hold up to scrutiny. 👇
My latest: Alberta’s Separatists Are Chasing a Total Cowboy Fantasy thewalrus.ca/albertas-sep... via @thewalrus.ca

Let's be honest, much of the separatist agenda is built around anti-immigrant lies & regressive "cowboy" myths.

To call this language a dog whistle is an insult to dog whistles.

The province they describe—rural, homogeneous, under siege—bears little resemblance to reality

Wild 24hr folks. Apparently the white nationalists have decided I am not Canadian enough because I lack sufficient inbreeding. Scottish granddad good-Dutch dad bad?? And us dyslexics have irked trump now. Can’t wait to see what comes of PP & Rogan. If my like has offended them how will I ever cope?

I think if Parliament passed a law that required a byelection before an MP could switch parties, you'd just end up with potential floor-crossers sitting as independents while voting with the party they would have otherwise joined.

We have now moved into hour 4 of the backyard squirrels actively playing with the puppy. All three of them should sleep great tonight!

I grew up near Edmonton.
I haven’t been back to Alberta in nearly 30 yrs. Can someone please tell me what level of cult deprogramming I need before when a dealership slogan starts with - Cars cost less - I don’t finish it singing - in Wetaskiwin?

If you’re scared of a Honda Pilot driving less than 5 miles an hour, with its wheels pointing away from you, you should not be working in law-enforcement…

You shouldn’t have a gun. You shouldn’t have a badge. You should find a new line of work.

For too long, climate advocates have been focused on blocking and restricting things. Why it's time for what @mliebreich.bsky.social has called a"pragmatic reset" on climate change — and an unapologetic embrace of climate abundance.

Climate abundance is the only way forward

Don’t we all boycott Spotify a few years ago over platforming Joe Rogan? Like was that a limited run boycott? 6 month for platforming an ant-vax racist?
Spotify is crashing HARD because of the boycott. Their stock dropped 11% in value over the last month. Let’s keep this going!

Tell everyone you know to boycott Spotify. There are plenty of alternatives that don’t run ICE advertisements and screw over artists.

We made it easy at boycottspotify.com.

Two things can be true at the same time, Canada.

1. Yes, I’m disappointed with some of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s approaches so far, particularly around climate action, and his definations of “nation-building.” We should expect better.

2. Carney is still light-years better than Pierre Poilievre.

Winnipeg judge stays charges against former fashion mogul Peter Nygard - The Canadian Press

This sucks. I was new to MB early 2000’s and looking for work. What he was was known, euphemism were used, agencies avoided the business, out of province professionals knew. It was just not spoken about.
