Tbh, I find any artist of any kind saying they're "a-political" to be side eye worthy because being an artist in this world is, in fact, political. I don't care if you only draw cat butts or sing about bees, creating art is political.

My Canon DSLR camera is still going strong after 15 years, and I am struggling to think of any one object that's brought me more enjoyment. When I bought it (early 20s) it was a pricey thing by my standards, but it's taken my eyes around the world more than once and helped me to see it. #photography

I'm happy to report that this worked out exceptionally well!
I am going to go to the airport and get on a plane and fly to the other side of the planet and walk into a forest full of green trees and not look back.

Mockery is a legitimate form of protest and people underestimate how much bigots hate it.

See, this is cool. This is the kind of thing that the internet should be for. Pointless but deeply fascinating curiosities. A global connectedness that doesn't erase the local and the quirky, but celebrates it.
Your periodic reminder that there is a website that lets you listen to local radio stations anywhere in the world

This is honestly one of the coolest inventions ever, imo. Global access to hyper-local imagined communities

Somebody once told them that consistency was key.
tariffs happening for no reason and theyre making your life worse, secret police kidnapping people for no reason and making your life worse, firing thousands of government employees for no reason and making your life worse, going to war with iran for no reason and making your life worse

Lol, US military commanders are telling their troops they're on a "spiritual mission" to bring about "Armageddon", and the Zionists have been using their old religious books to justify bombing kids in EIGHT fkn countries, and our media is like "IRAN IS AN UNHINGED THEOCRACY"

A writer is a person who cares what words mean, what they say, how they say it. Writers know words are their way towards truth and freedom, and so they use them with care, with thought, with fear, with delight. By using words well they strengthen their souls.

I just got a marketing email from my pet store suggesting that I buy my pet something special for Valentines Day. I love my cat but capitalism needs to CALM DOWN.

Our world in stupor lies;
Yet, dotted everywhere,
Ironic points of light
Flash out wherever the Just

May I, composed like them
Of Eros and of dust,
Beleaguered by the same
Negation and despair,
Show an affirming flame.

Apart from (blatant) racism towards Arabs & Palestinians, #AdelaideWritersWeek is also being explicitly anti-Semitic in implying that all Jewish people are made "culturally uncomfortable" by Palestinian/Muslim people. I do NOT believe that all Jewish people are inherently racist!! It's disgusting.

I'm shaking with anger that anyone would do this here. Would do this anywhere, but particularly here. Not to my people - and anyone who lives in Australia, no matter what colour or creed or culture, are my people. How dare they, when people are just trying to celebrate love and joy. How DARE they.

File this one under 'Books That Made Your Heart Feel Bruised (Positive)'. Tenderfoot by Toni Jordan has left me feeling very tender indeed. Australian coming-of-age at its very, very best. #booksky #AusLit

It's been a long time since a book walloped me like The Book of Guilt (by @catherinechidgey.bsky.social) has just done. I read the entire second half compulsively, unable to stop, letting out many murmurings of "oh holy shit" and "no fucking way" which disturbed my cat. Now I can't sleep. 10/10.
