Big thanks to the @kylrc.bsky.social LRC message center staff for their hard work during #KYGA26. Members of Kentucky Government Retirees pummeled them with calls during the session. They were uniformly polite and helpful.

Members of Kentucky Government Retirees continue to engage with budget conference committee to secure a 13th pension check for state retirees in the state budget. The most recent COLA was provided in July, 2011. #KYGA26

Kentucky Government Retirees is gratified that a House proposal to cap employer contributions to the Kentucky Employees' Health Plan has been scrapped. Thousands of public retirees rely on affordable insurance premiums and benefits. The cap would have had disastrous consequences. #kyga26

Tens of thousands of state retirees would be hurt by increases in premiums and benefit cuts. Kentucky Government Retirees is pleased to see growing opposition to HB 500 as currently drafted.

Kentucky Government Retirees strongly opposes the employer contribution caps on the Kentucky Employees' Health Plan in the House version of HB 500. We are deeply concerned about resulting cuts to benefits and higher premiums. We have issued a Call to Action directed at House A&R committee members.

This is not how grammar works. Breezy Johnson's boyfriend didn't crash.

Kentucky Government Retirees opposes any use of the Kentucky permanent pension fund for anything other than its established purpose -- to reduce state pension liabilities. The state pension fund is the worst funded in the nation, having a funding ratio of less than 30 percent.

“Kentucky’s primary pension fund for state workers continued its slow, steady recovery in 2025, although it’s still in worse shape than nearly any public pension fund other than the city of Chicago’s.“ From Cheves:
Whatever happened to KY’s state pension crisis? It’s slowly improving, at great cost
Kentucky is shoveling billions of dollars into its state pension fund and gradually, year by year, reducing its unfunded pension liability.

The state pension fund ended the fiscal year with a 11.22% annual return, more than twice the assumed rate. Retirees hope this additional revenue will help fund a badly needed inflation adjustment payment.
