It's a bit of a catch 22 because while it makes a stronger story, the trope also re-enforces an idea of how communication normally works when it shouldn't actually be that way. It makes me wonder how many things in society are based more on media tropes than on reality.
Good examples of miscommunication narratives exist, though they're usually cases where the struggle to communicate is a major theme: #InStarsAndTime wouldn't be anywhere near as strong of a story if Siffrin immediately asked their friends for help

Over time I've been doing 10-12 tiny practice sketches and it's been helping me figure out poses. I also sketched the occasional person who stood out based on mental notes when looking at them.
