Keep doing what you’re doing, to the extent that you’re able to and as it makes sense for you ❤️ just today I recommended your book to a wonderful undergrad during a collaborative meeting with a colleague in another dept. My colleague was like “oh my wife teaches that book!”

Six of the tenured faculty that the president is firing are in history. (!)
It’s arbitrary. None of the members of the committee that advised Bowie State’s president about “retrenchment” were elected by the faculty senate.
That’s against USM policies.
Here’s the resolution CUSF passed last May:

I saw them live in St. Augustine, FL in 2015 or so. They were amazing.

Like I hope Martins Navratilova and all the other TERFy cis lesbians who aligned themselves with the anti-trans movement are happy now

I do feel like there is a little less full-bodied shoving of AI down our throats, and more people being like “we gotta teach reading, writing, thinking, speaking” skills with hard copies of materials

The grief & barriers are endless. ADHD can already be a handful to deal with. Add the physical/back disability (sports, overworking generally, + masking + overworking to grasp confusing-for-adhd stuff)

Some days I feel like I am breaking.

And, today is actually an okay day, all things considered

And, what no one tells you when you’re disabled & leave an abusive marriage:

It includes losing the abusive accommodations your ex did: Helping make sure you eat, don’t forget things, splitting bills, carrying things (all while he thought “I do too much for her & am jealous of her career”)

Colleagues helped me when I asked them to, so it is not that.

It is the hours, my life draining away trying to request, document, “explain nicely” (while 😤 inside, back pain increasing) the basic assistance I need to do my job.

and me: “Am I asking too much? Are people getting tired of me?”

Oh, and loved having to spend hours in the first 2 weeks of class, trying to get help with broken furniture in classrooms that hurt my back, finding diff rooms for my classes, figuring out the tech and people-power for me to virtually attend faculty meetings per my accommodations

So much so.

This has actually become a complete recalibration of what even matters and is at stake for all our classrooms. No matter what the field, what we teach, somehow we must all be part of the great AI push and prostrate ourselves at the feed of our tech gods, or be treated like children
