I think about buildings and the built environment a lot. Optimist. He/Him. Views are mine.

Am I the only one who thinks Footloose is a deeply fascinating movie? Like who the fuck is the antagonist?

There's a building science lesson here. If Gladiator panties last in Mediterranean conditions for thousands of years, perhaps we shouldn't judge modern material longevity against Roman buildings?
A rare pair of Roman leather ‘bikini’ briefs!

The briefs tied on each side of the hips with leather laces.

Found during excavations of a back-filled Roman well in London. London Museum. 📷 by me

Building Science 101: overhangs help keep your house dry. Roof is about 35' above ground, and is still keeping it dry several fee from the house.

One possible to solution to the Fermi Paradox is the Dunning-Kruger effect.

Met some high-confidence idiots the other day and I definitely didn't want to engage them.

Maybe we're the universe's high-confidence bunch of idiots.

we switched to a GE induction range which, in addition to the environmental benefits, is objectively better than gas

Truth.
Quick reminder that airtight, insulated buildings – which are often fitted with filtration systems – offer protection against smoke from forest fires fuelled by the burning of fossil fuels.
The old world isn’t coming back. This can be retrofitted together with a heat pump, windows and insulation.
🔥 Big Fires in the US - Pacific NW - sending thick smoke 💨 to #Canada and back down again. BC fires too. Gonna get very smoky in the Midwest and Great Lakes again soon through the weekend! #fire #smoke

Netflix’s biggest shows have been losing 30-70% of their audience between seasons 1 and 2. Executives are in a panic because they can’t figure out why, but the answer is probably pretty damn obvious to anyone who’s paying attention.

Does anyone feel like we need more representatives in Congress?

Article I says that we should have 1:30,000 yet somehow a law from 1929 supersedes the constitution.

I feel like my house rep has too many constitutients to actually understand my concerns.

Just learned that Chiropractic Neurology is a thing and now I'm deeply sad.

If you needed evidence that Chiropracty is a grift, look no further than an 'advanced' certification for a bone/joint manipulator to correct something that doesn't contain bones.
