Contemplar multitudes, comprender almas, transformar aunque sea un poquito este mundo.
Automations will steal our work as teachers, they say.
Ah...well, it's just a question of years, investment and HCI tests with some more data from the rest of the world...(The problem is that some real politicians believe this tale).
As if populating a course on Blackboard wasn't bad enough, now it features a gallery of "automations" you can add. This celebratory feedback for "outstanding achievement" is both gross but also comically naff. "Your potential is limitless"🤣Imagine addressing your students like this in person!

Beyond AI literacy. Education is about virtue/character formation (Bildung, educare). Ways of learning to live together, like civic engagement through educational spaces. Revealing the political roots of AI beyond its individual impact (resounding notes across keynotes).

Now listening Mark Coeckelberg.
Connecting the dots: how AI creates epistemic bubbles that hence erode what is a deeper understanding of democracy, including the formation of our political consciousness.

Should I take a picture of the session dealing with the resistance of surveillance?
This is a space I'm going through with my thoughts but only publishing the names of the session would mean revealing identities, content, and the sacrality of a moment that remains in the elusiveness of my memory.

Go Kate, go! From the amazing Irish team, a focus on learning designers' labour in an era of Ai colonisation.

Parallel session now.
The encounter of the Post digital concept with that of Bildung is extremely powerful. A way of conceptualising learning that contest the learnification embedded in skills and competences. Learning is what you become through educational experiences. Engaging with discomfort.

Glad to be part of a space that makes different questions about the hyped tech universe in education. Where different narratives and ideas will circulate. Happy to stay in (and cultivate) the margins.
Anyone there backchannelling?

On "AI Literacy Day" I suggest reading "The (im)possibility of AI literacy" by @lucipangrazio.bsky.social questioning whether "literacy" is even the right response to AI and, if so, how a meaningful AI literacy could build on the history of "critical digital literacies" doi.org/10.1080/1743...

A decalogue I will definitely consider with my students (future teachers and educators).
In advance of this week's two-day humanities & liberal arts symposium on digital futures (held in HK & Zhuhai), here are the ten talking-points that I'll be highlighting to consider when thinking about the role(s) that digital tech should be playing in humanities, liberal arts & cultural education

DigComp 3.0 is out. More AI, wellbeing, rights — and still a strong focus on individual “competence”.

A real challenge, indeed. Openness and public knowledge require praxis and critical reflection on their impacts, risks, and problematic contours, especially in the context of the AI extractive industry. Still, I find this space liberatory amid the many hyped debates on AI.

Txs Ben and Janja for the advance and insights on the topic. Maybe an idea would be to advance this topic as a network, exploring and comparing transnationally how these factors are crossing our HEd systems and what is the space for a response (including policy making and funding!).
