There's also the side-story of when one of those Rationalists reinvented Pascal's Wager from first principles and the rest of the cult almost scared themselves to death about it.

So *that's* why Argentina is so fucked up. We had only one Big Glasses Old Man, and after he was deposed all we got is a parade or Suited Weirdos and Uniformed Weirdos. The balance was lost, and so was the country. You might even call this the Big Glasses Old Men theory of economic development.

Even then it might not be enough. According to "Nuclear War: A Scenario" if shit ever hits the fan it will all take place in under an hour and the earliest warning most people will get is being turned into atoms. If they happened to be outside smoking a cigarette they are just as dead as us.

That is not to say that Hamas are not a bunch of evil murderous bastards. They are. But if you're gonna dismiss people you disagree with as "unable to distinguish between different things" the very least you could do is showing that you can make those sort of distinctions yourself.
August 30, 2026 at 1:58 AM
Being able to distinguish between different things is indeed important, indeed, which is why you shouldn't attribute to Hamas the crimes committed by a *different* group of evil fanatical assholes.

Also, "we are poor little victims who were forced to fight" is a beloved defense of those committing genocide. Even Hitler claimed he was acting in self-defense.
August 30, 2026 at 12:08 AM
No, Israel is like "we'll murder Palestinian civilians in mass because they are Palestinians", which is what makes it a genocide. Only disingenuous bastards focus in the kill rate instead of the intent.
August 30, 2026 at 12:06 AM
Not every war is genocide, no one said so. This war, tho? This one definitely is. It's not that hard to understand. As for the rest of your post, may I suggest therapy? You're sounding kinda delusional.
August 30, 2026 at 12:04 AM
Probably because Milei is such an ass-kissing sycophant that he actually bragged to journalists that Trump gave him a random Sharpie from the White House.
August 28, 2026 at 11:46 PM
All definitions of genocide agree that it's destroying a group "as a whole OR IN PART". Do you know what "in part" means? I'm asking because the alternative to you being illiterate is you actually believing that if Hitler had said "I'll kill all Jews except for Bob" it wouldn't have been genocide.
August 28, 2026 at 10:32 PM
Also, there's no point in any definition of genocide where it says "it only counts if you murder all of them". The Srebrenica genocide is considered a genocide even though there were survivors.
August 28, 2026 at 10:07 PM
So you *can* understand that a genocidal actor might want to stop or slow down the genocide at some point, and that doesn't mean what they did wasn't a genocide. Huh. Guess you just like defending this genocide in particular.
August 28, 2026 at 10:04 PM
"The Nazis were one of the most efficient and competent fighting forces in the world and yet they couldn't kill all of the Jews crowded together in a camp? That's because it wasn't a genocide"
August 28, 2026 at 9:32 PM
Being an inefficient or half-assed génocidaire is not a valid defense, it just means you are an inefficient or half-assed criminal.
August 28, 2026 at 9:28 PM
Also, the law has ALWAYS cared very much about intent in "common" murders. A driver who runs over a pedestrian gets treated very differently depending on whether they did it intentionally or not.
August 28, 2026 at 9:23 PM
Being inefficient murderers doesn't make the any less murderous.
August 28, 2026 at 8:10 PM
Yes, because I have eyes.
August 26, 2026 at 4:47 PM
OP said that "criticism often doesn't stop there", which I agree with, but then the intellectually honest thing to do would be to attack only those who DON'T stop there, not assume that everyone else is also guilty of the same.
August 26, 2026 at 4:40 PM
If a country claimed to speak for all homosexuals while commiting a genocide I would certainly be suspicious of anyone who said "criticism of this country is homophobia".
August 26, 2026 at 4:35 PM
I have no idea what you are talking about, please enlighten me.

Also, way to constantly marginalize the Jews who are against Israel. Both Bibi and the Nazis in the Trump administration thank you for your service.
August 26, 2026 at 4:29 PM
Bah, Jew-ish, to be fair. Wasn't raised religious but I have enough contact with people in the community to know many are fed up of being used as rhetorical shields for Israel's crimes.
