Cis people do not understand how much trans people's rights have regressed in just 5 years.

5 years ago, there were none of these restrictions.

19 states banned legal recognition
21 states have bathroom bans
8 states ban gender marker changes on DLs
25 ban gender affirming care for trans youth

Transphobia is a losing strategy. If you’re telling trans people to eat shit for the cause you either know this and want cover for your own transphobia or you don’t know this and think it’s morally acceptable to mark some bodies and lives for death in the name of expediency. Fix your hearts or die.

Musk targets trans people for many reasons. Because he thinks it works. Because he thinks it enrages Republicans and depresses everyone else. Because he wants to torture his own child. Because he wants the message to be that the only safe political move is to join in the torture of his own child.

Just so we understand: “right wing wanker campaign to claim Doctors Without Borders are terrorists” means “the IDF is going to kill aid workers this week”.
The British press has been extremely hostile towards Amnesty International, Medicins Sans Frontiers, Oxfam and others for decades because *they offer rival narratives that the public might listen to*, and that is not acceptable, to them.

Republicans have made their endgame clear: banning healthcare for trans people of all ages.

Attacks on care for trans youth are the wedge strategy in a broader campaign to erode our rights.

Give them an inch, and they’ll take a mile.

The safe school answer that isn't great but at least isn't harmful is "This is just not something politicians in DC need to dictate. Parents & educators can work this out. We should be trying to give all our kids every experience they deserve. We don't need to ban books. We don't need to ban kids."

Just to note: we definitely already have concentration camps.

Gitmo may not meet your definition (it does mine), but Camp East Montana, Dilley, and so many others, including Delaney Hall and the Baldwin ICE camp here in Michigan, clearly meet any fair rubric for a concentration camp.
People have to take the rhetoric at the GOP convention seriously. The anti-trans, anti-immigrant hate isn't just words. It's is what the GOP is running on. Hatred of the "other". They really, actually want concentration camps. And for women not to have the vote. They say it and they mean it.

Why we do what we do, y'all. SJ Klapecki is a really good writer, and she did an incredible job with this one.
