More prisons won’t make us safer. The CLP’s plan for a 1,200-bed private prison could expand capacity by 40% in a Territory that already leads Australia in incarceration rates. Real safety comes from investing in crime prevention and rehabilitation, not corporate profit.

Closing YiSSA will have a devastating impact on homelessness. Where does the government expect people to go? I support the frontline sector’s call for the government to urgently reconsider this decision and ensure that people in crisis are not left without a safe place to go.

Estimates Update #44: The Auditor General can't conduct standard performance or "follow the dollar" audits. He says the risk is that public money is being spent without us knowing if it is achieving what it should be.

Estimates update #43: 65% of Territory Generation's investments are in gas. They said protecting that investment doesn't affect their decision making but refused to table any modelling showing how they make decisions about investing, including in renewables.

Estimates Update #42: Territory Generation has installed their first large scale battery which has allowed them to turn off a whole gas turbine, saving $10 million dollars and 58 thousand tonnes of Co2 from entering the atmosphere! Lets get another one!

Estimates Update #41: PWC recorded a $132 million loss last year, largely driven by the collapse of its Blacktip gas supply arrangement with Eni, which is now before the courts.

Estimates Update #40/2: But the Minister could not say if she or her team have met with, consulted, received, or acted on advice from the Commissioner - despite enacting laws which impact entirely on vulnerable children.
June 18, 2026 at 3:57 AM
Estimates Update #40: The Children's Commissioner role includes to" make recommendations to ministers, public authorities and other bodies on matters related to the rights, interests and wellbeing of vulnerable children".
June 18, 2026 at 3:57 AM
Estimate Update #39/ 2: Blocking them from speaking is not only disrespectful to them, but to all Territorians and our democratic system.
June 18, 2026 at 3:47 AM
Update #39: The Attorney General blocked the Anti-Discrimination and Children's Commissioner's from answering my questions. These are independent statutory offices, who play a critical role within our democracy to hold the Government to account and ensure the rights of Territorians are protected.
