Still mad I spent money on Lords of the Fallen. It takes a lot of skill to be that mediocre and not understand functionally any of the lessons that make your genre popular. Mortal Shell 2 by contrast was everything LoftF wanted to be. Still amateurish but FUN.

Coalitions are built on trust. You trust someone to mean well. People aren't perfect. Assuming the worst is literally distrustful behavior and will lead to no coalition being built. We are at a moment when building coalitions and communities is the ONLY way out.

It's really not the same though. There was definitely a point where you could have respectful debate in mature communities with strong moderators. But I think most good moderators got burnt out, bots got too prolific, and subsequently civility and standards of decorum lowered. Sucks.

Yeah for awhile my only real way of solving this problem was arguing in subforums of niche things barely anyone would care about. I'd be a bunch of vile idiocy, but it'd be a known quantity of vile idiocy. Now and days I mostly have given up and just wanna give the artists I appreciate encouragement

Them being in leadership positions kinda steered the mostly white org in a healthy direction but not every school has that luxury and not every environment should rely on black leadership to foster a good environment. TLDR: Support your local QPoC orgs whenever you can. There's a reason they exist.

I think another factor in this is a lot of this happens in the context of school and college in particular. The environment is inherently structured towards classism and white privilege. I think I'd have had a radically different experience if the academic head of our schools queer org wasn't black.
