One thing I like about House of Leaves is that I get a radically different understanding of the book everytime I finish a read, last time I ended up thinking the entire book was a lie told by one of the characters and now am sure the book itself is meant as a physical manifestation of the house

I do think a lot of British culture's decline has got to do with the amount of people brought on to shows like HIGNFY to look silly, do a rye smile when they get called out and then get to go onto the peaks of politcal power.

Don't worry, the rightist politician that wanted to erase LGBTQ people from public life, and actively campaigned for such with the political power they had appeared on a few TV shows to look silly and, in private, knew plenty of gay people. It's weird that you feel anything other than sadness rn.
