I never was able to delve in to the older releases but Brandish PSP is one of the highest-quality games I've ever played. It really is just astoundingly good.

The better timeline has a string of sequels starring Raul Julia

I was a big believer until I recently visited a friend who had a CRT and a new flatscreen. We were trying to fill in the map in Symphony of the Night, but the gaps were invisible on the CRT. We switched to flatscreen and immediately found them all. Could not notice any added lag after switching too

The original Brandish games are all a little too old for me to enjoy nowadays but I really wish they'd made more like the Dark Revenant.
