Yesterday was easily one of our most exciting days of the Autumn so far, with our first Eyebrowed Thrush caught and ringed in Church Field while our first Little Bunting of the season was mobile between The Warren and Pancho Pond. #Spurnbirds (1/3)

Knot flocks touch down in today's Autumn Arrival Spotlight, arriving from the Arctic to join resident birds.

Watch and wonder as thousands gather on tidal mudflats at RSPB Snettisham, creating mesmerising aerial displays as they move in unison.

"The climate crisis is stretching the fire service long before it makes headlines" - James Rodgers, London Firefighter

It should be a national priority to properly equip UK firefighters and ensure their safety as wildfires rage across the country.

No more cuts.

"You can't deny the seriousness of the threat that's facing us. Europe is heating up twice as fast as the rest of the world. The Cairngorms are on fire and there are fires in Sussex and in Greater Manchester."

A golden eagle named Squeagle was shot, with 17 pellets found in her body. She survived, but this is a shocking reminder that wildlife crime continues. We’re calling for information & accountability to protect our wildlife.

Lately I’ve been using the Benro GD36PT 3-way geared head. The beauty of this design lies in the fact that it combines the versatility of a ball-head with the fine control of a geared head. I also appreciate how compact it is compared to most other geared heads.

The Yorkshire Wolds looking resplendent right now. Someone on Strava said the first pic reminds them of the opening scene from Kubrick’s ‘Barry Lyndon’ IYKYK… 🤔 🎦

Nature is under threat - add your voice NOW!

The UK Gov has rejected vital chalk stream protections - a huge step backwards. Using wildlife as a scapegoat won’t fix housing delays.

I’ve just been for a lovely snowy walk from our home on the Yorkshire Wolds. I’ve had this shot in mind for a few years and finally got the conditions to photograph this very fine tree.

Shiretoko, Hokkaido, 2023.

As I discuss in my recent blog post (link in bio), I wanted to create a painterly feel and I’ve taken great inspiration from Hiroshage. Delicately revealing the colours hidden in the landscapes here.

Over the weekend, the National Park got its first dusting of snow of the season.

This came just in time for the autumn equinox today, marking the shift into the colder months.

Here's one of our favourite autumnal snow photos to celebrate.

What are you most excited about as the temperatures drop?
