New in PN: Retire in peace

"McConnell would never be allowed to drive a car, babysit young children, or file his own taxes. Why, then, should a cognitively incapacitated 82-year-old retain one of the most important positions of power within the national government?"
Retire in peace
McConnell is the latest example of an incapacitated politician refusing to let go.

it must be fundamentally absurd and on some level unreconcilable to be both,

1. A devout Catholic
2. The brother of the current Pope
This is probably the most traditional possible behavior for the family of a pope.

The Trump administration asked Congress to fund smart glasses that can identify you by your face in real time, just by an ICE agent looking at you on the street. No warrant, no arrest, no charges required.

A reminder while Republicans bitch about Dems finishing the redistricting fight they started: they have full control of gov’t— they can pass a law banning gerrymandering any time they want. They won’t. Republicans aren’t mad gerrymandering exists; they’re mad that they’re not the only ones using it.

It's a very weird experience to support / follow the athletic teams, but also know just about everything is fucked up. It's not all that different living in Ohio in general. Burn it down but also go bucks

Anyway, this is a good episode.
Had the honor of talking with @stevengodfrey.bsky.social about the 500-pound gorilla that is Ohio State athletics.

This was a lot of fun, even if it made me further consider the notion that Ohio State might be a malignant force.
