Great piece - do have a quick read and then share.

Essentially, Labour putting Rejoin in its next manifesto is the single move that gives Labour the best chance at winning (possibly with a coalition) at the next General Election. 🌹🇪🇺

We should ask ourselves why this is something a Labour Prime Minister feels the need to refute. After 16 years of austerity, a tax and spend socialist is just what we need.

We need a revolution in how Britain works youtu.be/oLP5qnqpSFs?... Nothing works now. It can't, and it won't, unless we turn our economy around to serve people and not finance. Is that too much to ask for? It would be revolutionary.

The best measure of how America is doing isn’t the unemployment rate, or the stock market, or the rate of economic growth, or the inflation rate, or the average wage.

It’s how well most Americans are living. And the reality is that most Americans are struggling.

Keynes transformed economics, making clear how markets fail and that governments have to intervene to deliver wellbeing. We need another Keynes now.

I used AI, among other tools, when creating this post. I also used about 50 years of experience writing about economics.

Very obliging of #r4today to lead with Reform’s ‘plan’ to stop the boats using the Royal Navy, pretending it’ll be some great WWII-style escapade, rather than a hateful, costly, diplomatically incontinent mess.
A total waste of everyone’s time as they’ll never be in power and it’s unworkable anyway.

One interesting aspect of the recent COVID discourse is that a lot of us have forgotten that lockdown and school closures was not simply about preventing deaths, it was about keeping the *rate of infection* down to a level the NHS stood some chance of coping with.

We should never forget how the BBC has changed this country by giving endless airtime to Nigel Farage and other rightwing extremists, while shutting out progressive voices.
And why is #r4today giving (yet again) such prominence to a hair-brained scheme that has little chance to ever be implemented? A GE is unlikely soon and the threat of Reform winning it is apparently receding. What is the justification for legitimising it?
