Did you know the “weekend” and working only 8 hours per day used to be considered a radical, liberal idea?
139 years ago today, in Bay View, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 7 workers (including a 13 yo) lost their lives to advance this revolutionary idea.

I feel deep sorrow at the passing of the great David Lynch, and deep gratitude for his life and work. He changed movies. He changed television. He opened the eyes of generations of critics to new possibilities for both. And his two minutes in The Fabelmans will remain a source of joy for me forever.

Yeah. I’m never gonna be one of those people that says that everything was better in the old days, but there were a few things that were. This is one of them.
Was just reading an article the other day about how things used to be made to last and in the past 20 years or so that has changed to things being made to NOT last so we keep buying them.

A trick for remembering people's names is to imagine what puns their surnames would make in the event that they commit a crime notorious enough to be covered in the New York Post.

commenting on something happening in some corners of tiktok right now but this is a general observation: it is absolutely brain-breaking how so many people have lost the ability to disagree with someone without denouncing them as ontologically evil or pathological or whatever else

My heart goes out to all the grown children who have had to figure out how to install wifi extenders for their parents so they can see the full complement of Ring cameras they’ve installed around the perimeter of their home in suburbs with crime rates of zero
