Waiting out Trump is not a viable option for Canada: future Trump-like tariffs from another wannabe despot are always possible. Canada can regain economic security by partnering with the EU.

Given that Trump was elected twice in the last three presidential elections is an indication that many Americans could again support a tyrant as president. So waiting out Trump may not be a viable long-term strategy.
