Today the proposal to "downlist" the Peregrine to CITES Appendix II was rejected. That will help prevent further poaching/laundering of wild birds - and allow time for assessing long-term impacts of HPAI, and aquire more information on the status of little-known populations.

Peregrine Falcon may be "downlisted" in CITES - probably a small challenge to well-studied populations in Europe and North America, but threatening little known subspecies mainly in the global south.
