Corey Ruiz was shot a few blocks from my house. He was on the ground, restrained by three officers, when a fourth ran up and shot him three times in the back of the head.
Corey was homeless. He was trying to get housing, mental health care, and addiction treatment.

Last year, we ran 50+ community safety and rapid-response workshops and trained around 2,500 people. Our largest workshop brought together over 200 people—including neighbors who hadn’t been to a union meeting since before the pandemic
