FFS. As so many others have said, ChatGPT does not go “rogue.” It’s not some D&D halfling with a tragic backstory.

The program has been set a task and algorithmically determining how to meet that objective. OpenAI on the other hand is apparently shitty at basic cybersecurity and monitoring.

☀️🇬🇧 Plug-in solar is now being sold on the UK high street.

Argos has become the first UK retailer to sell compliant plug-in solar kits, making it easier for households to generate their own electricity without a rooftop system.

The kits can simply be plugged into a standard wall socket 🔌🌱

Plug-in solar panels are coming to the UK from August 27th!

It's been in the pipeline for a while & it's already common in Germany. But it's BRILLIANT because it opens up these technologies to renters & ppl w/o their own roof. Plugs into a normal socket & supplies ~ 10-20% of household needs. ☀️🎉

Total nonsense on BBC #r4today this morning from George Godber, fund manager at Polar Capital: "we've shut down our domestic gas supplies".

NO. Our domestic gas supplies are *exhausted*. We've burnt the lot; we're down to the dregs.

Completely unchallenged by presenter Sean Farrington, of course.

The idea that teaching too many words to the word-guessing program risks creating a "superintelligence" that awakens and converts all into paperclips is absurd, a silly idea akin to the notion that if we breed horses to run ever faster, one of our mares will foal a locomotive.
