This year, I've officially become an @obsidian.md convert, I've installed Linux on my desktop for the first time because @reckless.bsky.social said this was the year to do it, and I'm slowly moving my entire online identity to #atproto. Feels good. Exciting times.
Wasn't there supposed to be a media event for Googlebooks tonight? I just read that preorders open Sept 21, but any news before then? I'm an Android user, and I want to believe, but I'm not convinced a Googlebook will meet my use cases any more than a Chromebook. Hard to be convinced with no data.

My first attempt at an Atmospheric blog, throwing it back to 1995, when I built my first website on the internet. The possibility. The potential. That's how I feel about the Atmosphere today.

It's arguably the most fun I've had on social media in a very long time.
One thing that I’ve really been enjoying on here lately is @middleearth.quest

I honestly don't know how to process the Chicago Bears scoring 59 points in the first game of the year. How is it possible to exceed the hype? And there was room for improvement! Insane. Go Bears!

Not exactly a great start for the Bears. I'll write it off to too much adrenaline.

Waited a long time to say this... IT'S GAMEDAY!

We're pickin' our teeth with their broken axes. Long live Sauron!
By the narrowest of margins, 🗡️ the black-armored ranks of Mordor have barely turned back ⛏️ the deep-delving Dwarves by a narrow mountain pass.

Mordor is victorious.

It's really hard to choose between all these awesome #atproto blogging tools. Feels like I need to write more so I can blog on each and support them all. Sadly, I'm not prolific enough for that.

Sifa.id is pretty cool. I like how dynamic it is (thanks to atproto's openness) without all the nonsense of LinkedIn.

What's with Big Ten Network and FS1 failing to cut to college football games on time? Two Illinois games this year, and both were already underway. Remember when local networks could cut over even when a national broadcast did not? With all today's technology, can we not do what we once did?

One thing that fascinates me about 9/11 is how much we all remember the weather. It was a perfect day in the NYC metropolitan area. Sunny. Cool. Early Autumn crisp. I went for a run, which was a little abnormal. Then the world changed. And we all remember the weather.

Sunshine. Confusion. Disbelief. Shock. I remember the morning of 9/11 in too much detail. From northern NJ, we could see the smoke. My coworkers had family and friends at WTC. The phones were down. It's all so visceral. My first child was born 3 weeks later In Hackensack. She turns 25 this year.

Something felt wrong watching this #NFL game. Maybe daylight for a night game? Or the fact it's on Netflix? Then I realized it's being played in Australia. The Southern Hemisphere. Of course! All the shadows must be upside down. And the football spirals in the opposite direction. Nailed it.

I think the Atmosphere needs to start talking about renewables given all the AI-related emissions going into the... Atmosphere.

I recently purchased the domain atproto.solar. And I'll offer that domain to anyone who's able to run a PDS that operates 100% on solar/renewable energy.

Let's chat.

Whoa. Apple going all-in with the "always listening" AI device.

Watching this Apple event, having watched Google's recent events, I miss onstage presentations instead of long tv commercials. They were events. They were shared experiences. Presenters had to engage an audience. Now we're watching infomercials, and they're not remotely exciting or entertaining.

I think Facebook's Muse joins Grok in the category of AI tools I don't intend to use because I fundamentally disagree with their company ethos. But that's just me.
