AwesomeCon recap:
- Alan Tudyk’s hatred of the pup cup industry
- Gillian Anderson is supremely cool and confident and I totally want her aura of bad ass when I grow up
- Animated Firefly!!!
- We got to see/be part of the nicer part of the human experience, which is great considering *everything*

Playing Pokémon Poketopia and it’s got serious Viva Piñata vibes. Without the Pokémon eating each other anyway. Definitely one of those games where you look up and suddenly realize it’s 3am.

Look, I come off as straight woman in a heteronormative marriage, but I am very much on the queer side of the spectrum.

… as attested by the fact that my algorithms feed me sapphic content and book boyfriend style thirst traps.

I’ve somehow turned into being the “good Indian daughter” who takes care of both my household and my parents. I guess I could include my in-laws too since I see them more often that C. does and we’re on the phone with them often.

Not the trajectory I expected ever.

Well... it looks like I'm officially signed up for a fall 5k.

How am I handling being on the verge of burnout and overwhelmed with my “caregiver of so many things trying to die and/or unintentionally kill themselves” status?

I’m just sitting here listening to “Murderbot Diaries” and semi-angrily crocheting things.

It’s hard to explain how much of a big deal this is.

C. is Omega’s favorite human; usually, everyone else is suspicious. Her thing with C. is to regularly flop over next to him and get belly skritches.

Here? She’s doing it for the kidlet. She flopped over and asked him. She stayed for ages.

Kitten is home. Drove out just as the snow was starting to get her. Emergency clinic got her drinking and eating again and kinda just went 🤷🏾‍♀️ “Here, have some meds.”

No real shade to them. They did what they could and it helped. I just don’t like not having solutions and answers.

Omega, one of our 14-going-on-15 yr old cats, has been in the emergency clinic for 24hrs now. Went in to treat for an infection, severe enteritis, and dehydration.

“Did you see the new Pokémon Secret Lab chairs?”
“Pretty!”
“How would you feel if one magically got delivered to our house?”
“… I mean, I won’t question it, but you’ll have to figure out where to put it.”

Later…
“There’s going to be a few more magic deliveries. Blame the house fairies.” 😏

Post from a FB friend mentions how she doesn’t get hit on when she dresses up vs down. Couple comments agree with her experience and general sentiment is about how dressing down can appear like a lack of self worth/easier target.

(No shade or judgement here, just explaining context)

Doing math homework with the kidlet is an exercise in emotional regulation.

I have to remind him that he’s still learning and homework is only a measure of his current ability at a particular thing and NOT a measure of who he is.

I miss old Twitter space. Private account, a good collection of trusted friends to keep up with, and no constant fear of speaking my thoughts into that space of internet.
There’s too much linked on Metaverse for me to use Threads regularly and the no-longer-Twitter is a hard no.

Our dishwasher died last night. It was 15yrs old; a good run. Without much thought, we bought a new one that C. will install today.

I’m grateful that that’s something we can do. Just drop $$$ to fix something. It feels like not long ago where I would have been panicking over the cost.

Told the Kidlet I needed to work on his Switch Lite since there will be a bunch of updates for the holiday.
Really, it’s so I can have his new Switch 2 ready to go for tomorrow morning.

Already got a screen protector, memory card, controller grips and a case. I wanted to be absolutely prepared.

Lessons learned from making Sonic themed birthday cupcakes:
- piping bags are a massive time suck and pain in the ass
- trying to get just the right shade of blue is harder than it looks
- icing in general sucks to work with. It’s so messy.

Good news: my kid did not care.

Since it’s almost the solstice and kidlet’s birthday, the photo apps are reminding me of every other birthday we’ve celebrated.

I love how happy kidlet is in every image/video. Excited, bouncy, and just happy to exist in a space full of love.

It makes me feel like we’re doing ok as parents.

Another project done! This one is for the kidlet’s birthday. Most of the build came from online but I added the icing band to help hold it together.

Short version: I made this!

Slightly longer explanation: earlier in the year, I designed a logo and custom stamp for C’s blacksmithing work. Decided to try making this shadow box as a Christmas gift.

New ink! Courtesy of the amazing @ameliamooretattoos.bsky.social

They're all my favorites but Purrloin and Furret hold special meaning and Espurr is just adorably introverted.

Remember that college humor video about printers being assholes? Still applies. I’ve spent the last hour seriously considering percussive maintenance.

Hello mother. The dog and I agreed you were away from the bedroom too long. We're here to... supervise.
-Things I'm pretty sure Alpha is thinking

But seriously, I cannot go anywhere without her or Karma following like not so silent shadows. They'll give up their comfy bed spaces to be near me.

Every year, I think I know how I'm going to do Awesome Con. Every year, we find something else entirely that catches our attention. Artists, panels, celebrities, book signings. I always appreciate the diversity of offerings.

Tried my hand at painting miniatures. A time consuming task that allows me to hyper focus on details? Yeah... Safe to say I enjoyed it. :)
