While I understand why the 12th amendment was necessary, I think that the VP should be chosen by party nomination like the presidential candidate is and just someone picked by the presidential candidate. Same party, same ticket but less chance they are coconspirators

In 1953, we pledged to be 1 Nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Then Roosevelt decided it needed some oomph... and added "under God"... Boy did that backfire.
