I have long felt the way to win here is to not build away from streaming, but to build *over top of* streaming. It’s a difficult line to walk, and one where some compromise is inevitable but better than either having no seat at the main table or having it take over your focus entirely
It sucks but this is the reality. Spotify has artists over a barrel because they have such a huge market share of global streaming music. If you’re a working musician who’s not rich you have to have your music on the platform. Even Neil Young relented and put his catalog back on Spotify this year.

I find people who troll others about having “pronouns in bio” to be uniquely exhausting. Y’all, I’m a large 6’4” man who - due to how my name is spelled - used to get beauty pageant invites in the mail as a child. It’s an amusing reason to be an ally, but here we are!
