My own partly U.S.-funded international school, there is lots of '9/11' memorialising, and fair enough: mostly U.S. passport-holding diaspora Indians, U.S. citizens heading admin. Today is also the day when, yearly, I show students the Ken Loach short included in the "11'09''01 - September 11" film.
Today marks the 53rd anniversary of September 11th when General Pinochet with help from the USA overthrew the democratically elected Salvador Allende leading to mass executions locally and turned Chile into a testing ground for neoliberalism which has destroyed the planet and killed millions

"Homo sapiens non urinat in ventum." A peculiar inscription above an archway in Amsterdam, which appears mostly at odds with empirical reality, though oddly inspiring if taken as an imperative (it isn't, so don't @ me on my poor understanding of Latin...this is not *that* scene from 'Life of Brian')

Despite never having had much time for his writing, my undergraduate years meant the reading of much of his stuff, so as to cut my philosophical teeth, as it were. Sad to hear of his passing.
