#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.162 Savior of the Abyss (NSW).The setting is definitly very creepy and I like the story, but the puzzles can be to obtuse for me and I really disliked the chase and running sections. The game had potential, but I like other games in this style much better.

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.161 Otogirisou - Sosei Hen (PS1). Apparently, the SFC original had a PS1 remake and recently got an English patch by Talion. It's even more creepy than the original, as it has updated graphics, SFX and even FMV. Be sure to give this one a try!

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.160 Splatterworld (FC). English Patch by @aeongenesis.net. This unreleased FC RPG is truly excellent! Set in the (spooky) Wanpaku Graffiti universe, it has great graphics, music and gameplay. Highly recommended!
Also, my first ever NES/FC RPG beat 😀.

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.159 Bloodmoney! (PC). A clicker/horror game, where every click earns to money to pay for your operation. Using weapons gets you money faster, but at what cost?
I'm not a fan of clicker games, but this one is allright and has three endings. Free on Itch.

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.158 Night Drive (PC). A short Visual Novel where you are tight up in the back of the car trying to figure out what's going on. It's well made, but, although it has four different endings, the game is a too short to be truly fulfilling. Free on Itch.

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.157 HIKEBACK (PC). A dark psychological horror visual novel where the choices you make change the story every so slightly eacht time, leading to different endings. It's superbly made and had me hooked from start to finish. Free on Itch. 100% recommended!

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.156 Nightmare in the Dark (ARC). An old-school arcade platformer with a spooky theme. Trap enemies in fireballs and throw them around (similar to something like Bubble Bobble). It's way more fun than I expected, with great (boss) graphics. Recommended!
October 3, 2026 at 7:38 PM
#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.155 Wardner (ARC). If you like cheap death traps, one hit kills, poor music, average graphics and stiff controls, than this is the game for you. Gameplay is fine. Also, you keep your upgrades after dying or game over, which negates the difficulty somewhat.
October 2, 2026 at 7:55 PM
#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.154 Halloween Forever (NSW). A fun platformer, reminiscent of the NES-era. Hard as nails, but with some nice difficulty toggles, it's definitly manageable. The graphics and music aren't the best, but the gameplay is very solid and the bosses are great!
October 1, 2026 at 8:16 PM
#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.153 Haunted Hell House (NSW). A very low budget horror adventure game that can be finished in 30 minutes. But for 2 bucks it's totally fine and you can have fun with it. Not all games have to be masterpieces.
October 1, 2026 at 4:49 AM
#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.152 Pocket Witch (NSW). A precision platformer, but this time with a halloween skin! The 30 stages of this game are pretty tough and the somewhat questionable controls don't help, but overall I had a good time. Just expect to die a lot.
October 1, 2026 at 4:48 AM
#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.151 Kamaitachi no Yuro (SFC). Tanslation patch by ButThouMust. A creepy SFC visual novel, where a crazed murderer is brutally killing residents of a skilodge one by one and you are trying to survive / find the murderer. It's excellent. Highly recommended!
October 1, 2026 at 4:46 AM
#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.150 Otogirisō (SFC). Patch by DDS. Let's start off spooky month with my traditional yearly playthrough of this horror SFC visual novel. It's a really good game with a good spooky vibe and it's fun trying to get a different ending each time. Recommended!

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.149 Mystic Pathways (NSW). Flip and exchange tiles to create a path. These kinds of puzzle games are a dime a dozen, but that doesn't mean they aren't fun. The esthetic is nice and, except for the final five stages, isn't too tough. A little buggy, though.
September 26, 2026 at 9:41 PM
#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.148 Lunar 2: Eternal Blue (PS1). The music and graphics are excellent, but the battles are very, very slow, which is very annoying. However, the story is pretty good and the characters are very charming, making this a worthwile time for sure. Check it out!

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.147 Rayland (NSW). A re-beat from a few years ago. Move and turn mirrors to have the lasers reach the targets. I love this game. It's not very long or very hard, but it's so much fun to play and it's a very chill experience. The sequel is also really good.
September 24, 2026 at 7:51 PM
#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.146 Springbot - The Last Spark (NSW). It looks like a cute, easy platformer, and while it's definitly cute, it's anything but easy. Especially the final stretch is extremely frustrating and downright mean. Shame. I really wanted to like this game more.
September 23, 2026 at 12:18 PM
#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.145 Foxy Rush (NSW). An autorunner platformer where you will die a lot in each stage. There are 64 short stages and are very satisfying to beat. The game controls well, has good music and the level layouts are pretty good. It's a fun time, go check it out.
September 18, 2026 at 8:38 PM
#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.144 Froggy's Bouncing Adventures (NSW). A precision platformer with 60 small stages. It's nothing you haven't played before, but what it does, it does well. It also has a nice difficulty progression. It's never too too hard or too frustrating. Recommended.
September 16, 2026 at 12:03 PM
#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.143 Fairytale Theatre - Momotaro's Adventure - (NSW). Another enjoyable budget title from Hunters, this time an action adventure. The main mechanic of beating a stage and getting a new ability is a lot of fun and for 2 bucks you can't really go wrong here.
September 14, 2026 at 8:44 PM
#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.142 Mysterious Adventure of Michael (NSW).

"Mom, I want Mario"
"We have Mario at home!"
[the Mario at home]

Seriously though, this budget title is actually really fun. I've played more expensive titles that were way worse than this game.
September 12, 2026 at 7:29 PM
#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.141 P-47 (NSW via Hamster). I found the game to be disappointing. It's pretty boring, with none of the spectacle you'd expect from an arcade game. Mechanically it's fine, but the garish color schemes and lackluster weapons and music make this one to avoid.
September 11, 2026 at 9:48 AM
#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.139 Fairytale Fighters (NSW). Always wanted to beat up Snow White as Cinderella? Well, now you can with another budget title from Hunters! It's again silly and stupid and doesn't control all that well, but come on man, for 2 bucks, what's not to love?
September 10, 2026 at 8:41 PM
#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.138 Angel Symphony (NSW). A budget shmup in which you are an angel tasked to save the world. It's silly and stupid and the graphics and music probably come out of a stock database from somewhere in China. In other words, great fun and you should play it!
September 10, 2026 at 8:14 PM
#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.138 Rabbit Raid (NSW). A standard hop-and-bop platformer that isn't anything special. It controls pretty well, but the game doesn't provide much variety and is clearly aimed at a younger audience. Though for a chill experience, it does the job well enough.
