I’ve gotten back into collecting comics again recently. Today I just realized how much I spent so far… and I’m nowhere close to being done buying the ones I want so…

Hello everyone who's on Bluesky now! A while back I shared a bunch of random things that took me time to learn about this site, and it seemed useful to people. I've updated that info with some things I've learned since. And I'll link to a bunch of Moderation Lists and some Labelers in the comments!
- Blocks are nuclear. Someone fighty in your comments? Block them and their comments disappear for everyone, and their quotes say "blocked". They don't see you; you don't see them ever again. - For each post you can choose who can reply in the "anyone can interact" at the bottom of the new message. You can disable quote posts, and choose who can reply: Everybody, Nobody, Mentioned users or Followed users. You can change this setting at any time, including after posting! - Have one annoying person quoting you? Look under Message options (the 3 dots) - Detach quote. Now the annoying person's post no longer shows yours as quoted. - Be inclusive - use alt text! It'll get your images appreciated and boosted by more people. You can set reminders under Accessibility in settings. Bluesky search and mute functions treat your alt text like normal post text, which makes it great for discoverability, and for letting people curate their spaces with muted words. - Important! Check under Settings > Basic > Languages. If you want to see posts in all languages, clear "Content Languages". Otherwise posts not in your content language(s) will not show up in your feeds. - Anyone can set up a shared block/mute list. They're called Moderation Lists. To activate them you click Subscribe. You then get to choose between muting and blocking everyone on the list (which you can see before committing to either). - Blocks are public (through 3rd party services like Clearsky.app), mutes are private. - Anyone can set up a Labeler. These are a kind of opt-in moderation service, (but can also be used like a Discord bot assigning something like pronouns). Say you don't want to block all people that have ever posted a piece of AI art, but don't want to come across their stuff without warning. You can subscribe to an AI labeler, and choose whether you want their posts hidden, or just see a little warning tag on them. - Don't want to mute everyone sharing that one annoying post? Go into Message options and choose Hide post for me. It's gone forever! - There are content filters under Moderation in your settings. Make sure to choose the option you want from Show, Warn and Hide in the categories Adult Content, Sexually Suggestive, Graphic Media and Non-sexual Nudity. - You can make a lot more tweaks to what you see or are warned about under Bluesky Moderation Services. Click around and decide for yourself - and remember that here we have actual moderators who will ban accounts for hate and harassment, so it's worth reporting any scum you see in the wild. - A neat thing about hashtags here - you can click them and choose to see either all posts with that hashtag, or all posts from one user with that hashtag. And, of course, you can click a hashtag to mute it. - Bluesky was built on AT Protocol, designed to share stuff publicly. This means support for private accounts has to be built from scratch. The devs know we want locked accounts, and they're on the roadmap, but not coming any time soon. Meanwhile you can tell Bluesky to only share your content with other logged-in users, under Settings > Moderation > Logged-out visibility. - You've got so much control over what you see. In your Following Feed preferences you can choose to hide reposts, quote posts and replies. (A warning about hiding replies: it will hide everything but the first post of a thread.) - Check out Feeds! You can curate different views of both your followers (for example, see only mutuals' posts), and of posts from people you don't follow (kind of like Lists on old Twitter). - Missing bookmarks? If you reply to a post with a pin emoji (alone or alongside some text), it will be saved to the pin Feed, so you can go back and find the original post. - URLs are free real estate! Step 1: paste a link in a new message. Step 2: wait until the link card shows up. Step 3: delete the actual link - the link card stays, and you have extra characters to use! - Starter packs are lists people have compiled for who to follow on certain topics. You can browse them on @blueskydirectory.com. (There are 3rd party ways of turning lists to feeds, but I haven't tried them. It's a requested feature.)
