In my opinion, AI data centers are not a great use of energy given AI’s use for fossil fuel exploration and surveillance and … a lot of skullduggery, in addition to the strong likelihood of coming job losses.
With a record 92.3 TWh net electricity surplus in 2025, France is attracting major AI data centers, including SoftBank's up to €75B investment.
Data center power demand forecast:
• 15–20 TWh by 2030
• 23–28 TWh by 2035
