Buddy is quite a unique creation, and intriguing deconstruction of kids' TV, a potent parable about growing up with abusive authority figures, and a wild bit of candy colored nightmare world building. The best year I can remember for original low-budget horror rolls on. #filmsky #BuddyMovie

*SPOILER ALERT* in #TheEndOfOakStreet test audience objections seem to get addressed in real time, as a character saves one person and leaves everyone else to die, followed immediately by obvious reshoots where other characters addess an interviewer to say "we too were saved." #filmsky

Really enjoyed #TheBrinkOfWar. The Angel Guild and I probably disagree on many things, but we do have common ground on the kind of movies I wish we saw more of, which they mix in nicely with the more meat & potatoes Angel Studios stuff. Super-excited for Runner next month. #filmsky

I saw Obsession a few days after it came out, then again today. I was struck by how it moves from one scene I've been thinking about since I saw it to the next and then it's over. If the old axium is that a movie should have 3 great scenes & no bad ones, this is just all amazing scenes. #filmsky

#MinionsandMonsters is squarely in that Joe Dante lane of highly-referential Looney Tunes kids movie anarchy that I love but tends to fall flat at the box office. For my money, this is the best movie to feature the Minions, and I hope it will find its cult over time. #filmsky

I suspect in a few years, I will love #MastersOfTheUniverse even more than I did tonight. It's so much fun, but slowly reveals real depth, a movie not just to entertain our inner child, but about it too. I can't wait to see it again and give it deeper thought than I imagined needing to. #filmsky

I've always loved the idea of the #MortalKombat film series, superpowered martial artists doing Enter the Dragon for the fate of the world, but only now, on the 4th try, has #MortalKombat2 told that story to my satisfaction. #filmsky

I'm doing the Regal #MondayMysteryMovie double feature, starting with #Hokum, which you should absolutely see if you get a chance. Brilliant screenplay, and a perfect vehicle for Adam Scott. Sadly, there's a 50-minute gap before the next Mystery is revealed. #filmsky

#ReduxRedux took me back to that feeling of going to Blockbuster, picking a sci-fi VHS about which I knew almost nothing off the shelf and having it turn out to be really great. Even the guy selling tickets at my theater had never heard of it, so catch this one while you can! #filmsky

There's nothing better than a satisfying surprise, but in its absence, give me a proven cliche over a deflating twist any day. #ColdStorage gets that, leading a great, game cast through plot beats we've all seen before, just never in exactly this combination. I had a very familar blast. #filmsky
