Our ancestors were just as fascinated in an eclipse.I wonder how many ruined their eyes not having the knowledge and eclipse glasses of nowadays.

Once, marshes in East London could absorb some flood water. We've built over these with a sea of concrete, losing the 'sponginess' to absorb intense climate-driven rain. Sewers built for an era of lower rainfall can be overwhelmed, contaminating flood waters.
