The settlement administrators have written back and explained to me that indeed, if you select either "author" or "author loan-out company" as your entity when you first signed up, it will assume that there is a silent publisher, unless you say that you are the sole owner of the work.
So I wrote to the Anthropic settlement administrators about this, and I think I got an answer, and their answer, uh, I have asked for clarification.
Also, it appears that the settlement folks are having persistent errors with self-published works with more than one author. They can understand that a self-published work with one author = 100% payout to author.

Currently, Indigenous people are housed in the ICE facility in Minnesota. We want to make it clear that this isn’t isolated to Minnesota, nationwide indigenous people are being harassed if not outright targeted by ICE operations. We need to be more vocal about these issues!
