“US Attorney Todd Blanche”…. Does Darlene Graham know anything about politics? She’s already disclaimed her obvious lack of knowledge about international relations. And apparently doesn’t know what a AG is.

Classical socialism prioritizes workers as a class, explicitly across national lines. Favoring domestic workers over foreign workers is nationalism or protectionism. Marx said that is a tactic capital owners use to divide the working class so opposing it is precisely socialistic and not a departure.

So he is correct the modern term is different than the classic term, but the DSA is using a principled definition of social democracy. And the Beardo Weirdo is completely wrong in how he uses it. Trans rights is not part of socialism: it's a correlated policy decision, not a definitional one.
October 8, 2026 at 4:07 PM
Republicans misuse the term to mean any expansion of government activity: social security, ACA, minimum wage, etc. And they increasingly use it to characterize non-economic things like supporting trans rights--which is just nonsense and definitionally absurd.
October 8, 2026 at 4:07 PM
The DSA uses more of a Eduard Bernstein "revisionism" version that is "social democratic": accepting private ownership and markets while regulating them heavily and redistributing their output through progressive taxes, a strong welfare state, labor protections, and collective bargaining.

I'm not defending the couch-lusting hypocritical beardo weirdo, but he's not wrong "socialism" in modern American discourse is overinclusive and equivocal. The term is rarely employed to mean classical socialism (social ownership of the means of production) the way Owen/Saint-Simonian/Mark used it.

All he has to do is file in Reed O’Connor’s court in the 5th circuit and log jam the whole country. It strikes me as a virtual certainty this plan has already been fleshed out if not briefed. O’Connor might be willing to seize ballots into the courts custody pending appeal.

If Trump had the balls, he’d just call Talarico gay instead of beating around the bush. You know he wants to. Come on wussy. Do it tough guy.

Annoying that the focus is on what they disagree between each other about--as if the goal is a "Dems in disarray" story--rather than the messages they share and ideas they have.
October 5, 2026 at 6:32 PM
So maybe we are heading for electoral revolt. Small-gov TX GOPers may finally be willing to cross party lines and vote DEM—treating short-term defection as chemotherapy to marginalize and kill off the MAGA faction in hopes a functional, pro-business GOP can rise from the ashes. Or, that's my hope.

After that, it became full on culture war 24/7. Bathroom bills and virtue signaling became more important in Austin than the financial concerns that started the Tea Party movement. Grievance at culture displaced grievance at government spending. And the old guard traditional TX GOP is tiring of it.
October 5, 2026 at 4:33 PM
After Cantor's loss, Patrick amped up the "invasion" rhetoric taking immigration as the reason for Cantor's loss and as the new target of Tea Party anger (again pushing a racial grievance) after the financial pretext ran out of road. By 2015, the remains of Tea Party grievance was co-opted by MAGA.
October 5, 2026 at 4:33 PM
Patrick, more than the other three, always was a culture warrior. Cruz ran for Senate then as a president as a Tea Party financial guy, but by then the fiscal pretext was exhausted after the 2013 government shut down failure showed that spending was an unwinnable fight. Cantor's loss sent a message.
October 5, 2026 at 4:33 PM
The anger over TARP (Bush II) grew into anger over Obama policies (stimulus, mortgage relief and ACA)--and Tea Party grievance first showed signs of a racial component. Cruz and the Triumvirate (Abbott, Patrick, and Paxton) came to power out of the Tea Party revolt against the Establishment.
October 5, 2026 at 4:33 PM
The seeds of the TX GOP downfall traces back to Rich Santelli's rant and the Tea Party takeover of TX in 2010. Before then, TX GOP was traditional small government, leave us alone, Pro-Business GOP. Tea Party started about financial grievance over bailouts and TARP and it took on the establishment.

Rateliff is up there too. Love me some. Seems like a great hang.

Disappointed you omitted my grandfather. The one I liked.

The GOP overplayed their hand in TX. If they stayed sane, they likely would have kept the state for the foreseeable future. But people are tired of the triumvirate in charge for over a decade (Abbott, Patrick and Paxton) and have soured on Trump which the triumvirate tied themselves to.

You have had 2 years with a complete rubber stamp with majorities in the house and senate and yet you have done none of this shit. Why not? Because it’s just words; not really a promise.
October 4, 2026 at 1:25 AM
Even MAGA doesn’t believe that, right? Their fever dreams of how they want the world look haven’t come true, for sure. They know the economy sucks. They don’t like wars. What would be any evidence to them things are good? We are being mean to immigrants and trans? But haven’t eliminated them…

Explains that there is a video cut after things he says and the video response
October 2, 2026 at 5:42 PM
Guessing like with the LLMs there is a long pause after the prompt before video ai responds? If so, not exactly going to pass the Turing test or trick people. Most people don’t pause for 20 seconds before responding in a conversation
